Abstract : Fabrics made of synthetic fibers (like non- yellowing nylon) have been greatly improved lately so that they have become characterized by being softer ,more durable ,flexibility and more colorful. Also Fabrics made of polyester fibers which are light- weight with bright colures and resistant to the effects of light and friction and are impermeable to water . This research aims at the evaluation of those Fabrics used in the manufacturing of sportswear in order to determine their suitability to these types of clothing .The researcher selected samples of those Fabrics available on the market in the form of ready –made clothes or cloth material taking into consideration the fabric construction using magnifying lenses. the tensile strength was measured using the tensile strength and strength apparatus .Also the ability of the fabric to absorb moisture was determined by the air-permeability apparatus. The statistical analysis of the result included the use of the arithmetic mean ,the on-way and two-way analysis of variance with interaction (ANOVA) to determine the relationships between the type of fabrics and fabric direction (warp and west ) for the characteristics under study namely ; tensile strength, and permeability to air.
